Error 0x80096004 is irritating the Windows 10 Insider Preview users this time. The issue in discussion comes to the fore while updating the device thus stopping the process in between. After searching a lot for the error it is found that the full form of the code TRUST_E_CERT_SIGNATURE is that – The signature of the certificate could not be confirmed.

The entire error code reads as “There were some problems installing updates, but we’ll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80096004)”.

The simple reason for its appearance is that there are a number of invalid certificates in the update packages.
